Cathrineholm

I was so lucky to find some stunning Chocolate Brown Cathrineholm Lotus enamel cookware. Every mid century home needs a piece of Cathrineholm. Designed by Grete Prytz Kittelsen, a Norwegian artist and the Queen of Scandinavian Design.

PS: always enjoy The Lion Street Store Tumblr, a very dangerous store for me. Sarah's taste is very much my cup of tea.

hello sunday

We picked up two small ashtrays. They are souvenirs made especially for the Expo Brussels in 1958. They made some really nice posters, wall plates and some other very interesting Expo souvenirs. Highly collected and not easy to find but sometimes you are lucky.

What was your best vintage find of the last couple of months??

see you
Kay

This and that

My week ended with a day on the beach. I'm trying to organize my work, family and sports better so I can spend more time on the beach these couple of months.

At the moment:
  • I really fancy a couple of Fernmob chairs for the garden.
  • Found some Poole Twintone cups, they are so pretty. Have a look at Rob's  Twintone collection.
  • Need a lazy weekend.
  • Nila's birthday is next Monday, have to bake her a nice cake.
  • Started to read The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach.
  • Love plums.
enjoy your weekend,
kay

vintage treasures

Here are my some of my new vintage treasures from the flea market in Germany on the weekend.

  • Love the small cute bed lamp, guess is from the 60s.
  • The blue city painting. Wonder which city that could be... somewhere in the States? Probably late 50s begin 60s.
  • Two Anita Nylund ceramic storage containers (that made my day).

I really had a good and lucky day.

see you
Kay

PS : really want the new cookbook from Lisa Faulkner.

on my wishing list

After the market yesterday I have a wishing list.....

  • Really need a Gym bag. It should be a vintage one..., the Muenchen 1972 one was just too expensive but very cool.
  • On my wishing list for a long time. A Grundi Sonoclock 100 from the 80s. Not easy to find and most of the time in a bad condition.
  • We all need a vintage Mes enamel pot. Guess I really would love one in a pastel color.
  • Nila and I think it would be great to have an orange Smurf house, lol.

What is on your vintage watch  (wishing) list???

see you
Kay

PS:
A little note for my dad......miss you like crazy every day.

weekend

Keep bringing home blue and white vases for my garden. At the moment they live in my living room but the idea is that they move to the garden in a couple of weeks.

We are going to the flea market in Dusseldorf on Sunday. That one is always good and we know a lot of people selling there. After a long winter break it will be nice to see what people will bring there. There is always lots of amazing ceramic. Lets hope is not raining!

enjoy your weekend
Kay

P.S:
Love the blog & work from Maze&Vale.

The Printed Sqare

The last couple of months I have been very interested in vintage fabric, scarfs and handkerchiefs. So I was delighted when I got the new book The Printed Square by Nicky Albrechtsen. I still need to learn a lot about this area of vintage. This summer I will look different at fabrics and co.

If you want to know more about Nicky you should check this interview.

Alexander Calder

Last weekend we went to the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague to visit the Alexander Calder exhibition.

We adore the work of Alexander Calder so we were quite exited to find out his work was coming to the Netherlands.

His mobiles are fantastic.A must have for every mid modern home.

beach walk

There is a new trend here at beach restaurants.
Because of the weather, they have little table fires, so you stay nice and warm.

This year I promised myself lots of time on the beach.
There are a few which are close to my house.

Some of them are great for a walk. Other ones have lots of good cafes and restaurants. Mister Kay has a favourite beach restaurant. Guess he has been a customer there for more then 35 years.

I did meet Mister Kay on the beach in Italy at a kite festival... Guess we both love the beach but you will never find us there in the day time, only early in the morning or  in the late afternoon.

see you
Kay

Easter Brunch

We had  a fine Easter brunch this afternoon. I decorated  the table with my blue pastel ceramic.

Arctic Mum did send me some Figgjo egg cups a couple of weeks ago and Merle was so kind to find me some Melitta teacups (just love them).

The rest of the afternoon we did spend in the Museum. Another highlight of our day was a walk and a dinner at the beach.
